The Craft Safari Studio Company Information
General information
The Craft Safari is UAE’s unique destination for Indian handicrafts, arts, weaves and jewellery. It was started as a small Facebook store by 2 ‘Craftaholics’ ,- as they like to call themselves – Ann Thomas and Geetha Mary Jimmy.
Living in the UAE, we both liked doing up our homes with Indian artifacts and crafts and this made us search for the best of indigenous crafts from across India. As we got to know more and more of Indian craftsmanship and the rural artisans we thought of this – Why don’t we make these wonderful crafts available for others in UAE? This thought led to the birth of The Craft Safari.
We started in October 2011, with just 2 suppliers and a meager capital. Those days we just represented 2 states in India through their handicrafts. But today we have many more suppliers and a lot more unique products curated by the team. From an Online store we have grown into a full-fledged boutique located in Ghusais. We ship our products to those who demand them even from Qatar,Bahrain, USA, Newzealand, Botswana etc.
We believe in the beauty of Indianhandmade goods and it is indeed a matter of pride when people send us pictures after doing up their homes with what they buy from us. Above all, it gives immense satisfaction when we become instrumental in giving a place of pride to an unknown Indian artisan’s labor.
Copper Bells from Kutch, Bastar crafts, Longpi pottery from Manipur, DIY Craft kits, Charamkari Danglers from Andhra Pradesh, Dhokra from Orissa, Rajasthani Jharokhas and musicians, Soapstone craft, Wood block carving from UP, Beaten copper artefacts from Pune, Kerala Mural painting and Aranmula ‘Valkannadi’ (the famous metal mirror) of Kerala et al are a few of our handpicked products in stock at the studio. Also worth mentioning is our array of ethnic jewellery including terracotta sets, Silver jhumkas, Silver Temple jewellery sets and pendants, Dholki necklaces, Fabric jewellery, Copper jewellery and more.
We have also ventured into conducting arts and crafts workshops with Kerala Mural Painting workshop, block printing workshops, Tanjore painting workshops among the few conducted by experts at our premises.
There is an increasing demand to wear handlooms and promote the rural weavers and artisans and this always keeps un in relevance – not only for home décor but also for festive gifting and corporate gifting for various occasions as well.
Our dream is to become UAE’s one stop destination for Indian handicrafts while providing the unknown rural artisans with more livelihood and income.
